Directional Signs (D1-1)

Directional (wayfinding) signs are also used, though they are so far uncommon, and two examples are shown:

Share the Road

Two different kinds of "share the road" signing are available (R4-11, W11-1 & W16-1p):

R4-11 W11-1_W16-1p

Path Crossing

For locations where a multi-use (shared-use) path crosses roads (W11-15):

W11-15

Pavement Markings

Bicycle lanes are marked with white stipes and the bicycle lane symbol. In the past diamonds were also used but are no longer part of the bicycle lane specification.

For roads with significant bicycle traffic, but where the lane is too narrow for bicycle lanes, the shared lane "sharrow" symbol can be used. This is currently experimental under MUTCD, and I'm not aware that they have been used in Nevada yet, however, when the new MUTCD is released in 2010, they will probably become common.
